Tomo in FUSHIGI YUUGI: SUZAKU IBUN

Tomo in Fushigi Yuugi: Suzaku Ibun.

Tomo appears in FUSHIGI YUUGI: SUZAKU IBUN, which is a dating videogame for the PS2 and Nintendo DS. No, you can’t date him in this. He only has two character artwork, one of his glorious self and the other as Aono. His facial expressions change depending on his mood. Although Miaka and Yui are replaced by Madoka Ootori and Misaki Himuro respectively, the premise of the game is pretty similar to the original story, but depending on what the player decides, the fate of characters could play out differently. Characters like Nuriko and Chiriko can be saved. Amiboshi falling into the river can be prevented. And because Miaka isn’t in the game, the new protagonist can choose whichever Suzaku warrior she can be with in the end.

Tomo could also be left alive for the remainder of the game depending on the choices the player makes. If the player decides to go to Makan Village, there would be an encounter with Tomo, in which he'd either be killed off or would flee away. If the player skips Makan Village, Tomo would be left alive and would join up with team Seiryuu later on, which would result in a lost battle for team Suzaku where the Shinzaho would be stolen by Suboshi.

The scope of Tomo’s powers can be measured in this game. He’s still the illusionist, but is considered to be an extremely powerful sorcerer. From the translations I've read, Chichiri, who specializes in spells had a hard time against Tomo. Even if Amiboshi were to be present, Tomo may be a bit too powerful for the two warriors who are protecting Madoka. Only when more of the Suzaku warriors were to join in, which include Tamahome, Tasuki, and Mitsukake, could they actually beat Tomo. This would overwhelm him as he would be outnumbered. Depending on the situation, Tomo would either runaway or be killed off by someone. Also depending if Amiboshi was kept as a POW or he survived falling into the river, Suboshi may show up and kill off Tomo (just like in the original story).

If Tomo wasn’t killed in Sairou, he’d join up with Nakago, Soi, and Suboshi. Ashitare and Miboshi are dead at this point and they can’t be spared like Tomo. From the looks of it, even if all 7 of the Suzaku teammates are left alive and having Amiboshi on their side, team Seiryuu would’ve still won if Tomo is present (even if it’s only the 4 of them). Without Tomo, team Seiryuu would lose. That being said, having Tomo around makes a big difference.

Aside from his illusions, Tomo’s role seems to be somewhat expanded in this game. Being a bad guy, he has the ability to alter memories and brainwash the person of interest. In this case, it’s Misaki Himuro, who replaces Yui. He’d have her believe that Madoka Ootori (Miaka's replacement) is terrible to her. He did this all for Nakago, and that he improved his powers because of him.
Also to note, if I didn’t read the translations, I wouldn't know that Tomo is still a pervert. There’s a line where he said he’s “aroused” by something. Even the way he said it sounded horny. Nevertheless, I do like the passionate voice work by Yuichi Nakamura in this game. His voice is quite Tomo-like but with stronger angry emotions.

Tomo's introduction.  At 4:26, Tomo sounded horny because he was "aroused" by something (I'm not joking).  Translations can be read here.  Original video link.

Aono Situation Version 2.  It actually plays out differently from the previous video.  Translations can be read here.  Original video link here.

Mitsukake vs Tomo!!!  Healer vs. Mage!!  Let's see how this goes!

Hotohori Vs. Tomo!!!   What would happen when the Emperor ventures out of his palace?  Original video link here.

Tamahome vs Tomo. Plays almost like the original story, except Tasuki comes in to roast Tomo lol. Original video link here.

Tasuki Vs. Tomo. Tasuki starts the battle and finishes it (with the help of others). Translations can be read here. Original video link here.

Amiboshi Vs. Tomo. If you've seen the previous videos, you know what happens here. Suboshi then comes to the rescue and killed off Tomo, just like in the original story. I notice that there's a difference in Tomo's death dialogue, depending on who killed him. If he's killed by a Suzaku warrior, in which it seems to be always Tasuki, Tomo would spitefully mutter, "Damn you, Priestess of Suzaku." If Suboshi kills him, Tomo's last words are, "Nakago, forgive me," in which you can hear the heartbreak in his voice. So sad! Yuichi Nakamura has done a tremendous job on Tomo! That's all the videos I can find that pertains to Tomo. Let me know if there are others!

Here are some dialogue translations that has Tomo in it. I made sure to put them in chronological order.
